The Timeline Thus Far...

The month of May has been quite an eventful month. It's hard to sum everything up in just a few sentences. So I thought that I would place a timeline of events that have occurred the last few weeks.

So for a little background information. The company that I, Brandon, had been working for (Laptops Unlimited/Northstar Computer Solutions) has had its ups and downs for the last few years. Recently I had noticed that business was not steadily coming in. As a result the money coming in was basically covering overhead and not pulling in profit. As a result I started to look for a new job, but no success came from that endeavor after many rejection letters. Business started to pick up a little bit, and I didn't think much else of the problem. Well on my birthday, April 4th, I took the day off, and I just happened to receive a phone call from my boss asking me if I would like to purchase the company from him. I was in shock and wasn't quite sure what to do. After thinking it over for the day I realized that time was short there and things would be changing fast. I didn't start looking for a job just because I knew that I would be able to stay on with the new owner. As time progressed it came to my attention that by staying on my wages would be decreased significantly, enough to not be able to support a family.

All this lead up to all the events in the month of May. Starting on the 3rd my boss approached me and told me of a job offering that his brothers company (Eagle Air Med) was looking to fill as an Assistant IT. He told me that they would at least guarantee me an interview. Well I figured that I had nothing to lose at this point so I went ahead and applied for it that same day. The next day, May 4th, I was called to schedule an interview. I was excited at how quickly they received my information and called me back. Thursday May, 5th I went in to the interview. As usual I was super nervous and didn't know what to expect. As I was called into the conference room, I was interviewed by the IT manager and the HR coordinator. It was an intense interview lasting nearly 45 minutes. I felt pretty confident on my presentation and could only hope for the best at that point. I asked when they would be getting back to people whether they received the position or not; they told me in about a week...joy. So Friday the 6th rolls around and I'm doing my normal thing at work, and I receive a call from the IT manager informing me that I had been offered the position. I was in shock to hear the good news; acting calmly on the phone until hanging up. I leaped for joy and screamed. Not typical for a guy, but I figured I had just been blessed majoring and needed to let it out. That weekend Ruth and I decided that we needed to move due to the fact that my new job is located in South Jordan, a 60 mile round trip from our current location. We started looking up places to check out and move to. Monday afternoon I picked Ruth up from work and we went and checked out an apartment complex at the north end of Lehi, UT. I was pretty sure this would be the place to move to. We then went and looked inside and both of us had a sick feeling inside telling us this was not the place. On our way back home Ruth had mentioned that we should go check out a complex in Pleasant Grove that I had previously lived at and thoroughly enjoyed. On our way there I had a thought come into my mind of a place I had briefly looked at on craiglist and didn't think much of. So I pulled up the old data, we went and found the place and called the Landlord to see if the place was still available. Unfortunately it wasn't, but he told me to hold on. After a few minutes he came back on the line and told me that there was another one a few doors down that would be available in a few weeks (which was perfect because that's when we were planning on moving). He let us in to view the place and instantly we fell in love with it; Its a townhouse located in the center of Lehi. The price was right and I told the Landlord we would take it. We first had to submit an application for approval. The next day they called us back and told us that we were approved and all we needed was to put our deposit down to hold the place.

So within one week our lives completely changed for the better. I had gotten a job that pays significantly better, with full benefits, a new place, and a chance to really start our lives and hopefully a family eventually. Many more events followed upon getting the new place. We then had to worry about selling our contract. A few weeks prior we had just signed for another year, not knowing that we would be stuck in this situation. Our Landlord is incredibly picky about who moves in, and to find the right tenants was a nightmare. Call after call, applicant after applicant, it seemed as though we weren't getting anywhere. Finally the perfect couple showed up and decided to take our contract. Through some events and frustrations with that we pulled away finally selling our contract. Although due to some certain circumstances we didn't pull out of the situation was we had hoped for but the main thing is that it's done!

On May 23rd I started my new job. I have been super nervous to whole week leading up to starting. I was embarking on a whole new world from what I was coming from. When I arrived at Eagle Air Med, I was greeted with much enthusiasm. The new job is amazing! I get my own private office, and life is great! Things are finally looking up for Ruth and I. We've had many ups and downs trying to figure out what to do with goals and aspirations. Now we can see a light and a future. We hope to soon have children, but for the time being that is on hold til we settle down. As for Ruth, she is still plugging along with Navtec. She is doing well, and enjoys it most days when customers aren't chewing her ear off.

This is a long read, but a just in a few weeks a lot has happened, and it's better to get it down now than later. LOVE YOU ALL!
